Achieving healthy hair doesn’t have to be difficult. It’s not about following the latest hair trend, using the right styling tools or making some DIY hair masks with strange ingredients you don’t recognise. Caring for your hair is much easier than you think, all you have to do is remember to treat your hair right. Get A Haircutr When was the last time you cut your hair? If you aren’t sure, or can’t remember, it’s definitely time to visit the hairdresser… even if it is just for a little trim. Despite what you might think, trimming your hair is vital to its health. Avoiding a haircut won’t help your hair grow out, because you’re allowing dead, burnt and split ends to compromise your natural length. Ideally, you should get a cut every 6-8 weeks, and trim away all the potentially damaged sections of hair. Limit Your Use of Heat Styling Toolsr Heat appliances make for great styling tools, and because they are so readily available and simple to use, it can really help transform your look. Unfortunately, as great as your hair dryer, straightener and curling iron are, if you’re not careful, they can cause severe damage to your hair. Too much heat will dry out your hair, stealing away the natural moisture your hair needs to maintain its health. Without this moisture, your hair will break, leading to split ends and hair that looks very straw-like. If you can’t cut out heat appliances all together, the best thing you can do for your hair is limit how often you use them. Make sure that you only run over or apply heat to a strand of hair once and aim to use heat tools no more than once a week. Use Natural Shampoo and Conditionerr If you truly want healthy hair, it’s time to ditch the conventional bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your shower and swap them for all-natural products. A natural shampoo and natural hair conditioner will work wonders in maintaining your gorgeous locks, while providing hair with essential oils and nutrients it needs to really thrive, using only natural ingredients. Conventional bottles of shampoo and conditioner are full of synthetic chemicals that coat your hair in sulfates, parabens and silicones. These chemicals will make your hair reliant on the product, because it gives the appearance of clean hair on the surface for a day or two, but it is stripping natural oils and moisture. A natural shampoo will help gently lift chemicals, dirt and harmful oils, while a natural hair conditioner will add moisture into your locks.
