A Guide For Plumbing Leaks in Toilet and How to Fix Them

Plumbing leaks in the toilet of your house can occur every month or two. Tub and shower: Drain leaks

Drain leaks are harmful to your tub or shower wherever the drain is connected as it allows the water to sneak around it. If you have a tub made of plastic or fiberglass, you will face this problem more often because when you use them, they have pressure on it and they can’t afford such pressure. As a result, then create some gaps around the drain and water can leak from there. In such cases, detection of water leaks is easy as you can see the stains of water around the ceiling or the joists below. If the flooring is loose from near the tub or you see damp floors of the rooms that are adjacent to the bathroom then it means you have a drain leak from the shower or tub. If you can see below the tub or the shower by using an access panel or you can open the ceiling, then you can detect the exact point of the leaking. When you find the leaking, you can use your plumbing kit to open any pipe or drain flange from the top. Then you need to clean the flange and apply some silicone caulk to it. With that, you should also change the washer or gasket that you can find beneath the tub drain. Get a matching gasket of the same size from the market and replace it. You have fixed the drain leak from the tub or from the shower.

Tub and shower: Tile leaks

Tile leaks arise while water seeps via deteriorating grout or caulk and receives into the wall in the back of the tile. It depends on the substances that are used to set the tile that it will result in tile falling off the wall, excessive rotting of the wall framing, and harm to the subfloor, joists, or ceiling below. Excess formation of mold, loosen tile, peeling paint if the shower is against the exterior wall and water stains on the ceiling are some signs of tile leaks in the tub and shower. The fixing may be simple if you can open the panel and if the wall is still in good condition you can regrout, reattach tile and recaulk using the tub and caulk.
