If you are planning on attending an upcoming medical conference, whether you are a first-timer or a veteran, you will want to make sure that you have planned well to make the most of your time. Our checklist will help you get ready!

PLANNING
Mark the location of the conference, as well as your hotel. Familiarize yourself with the venue and plan your routes.
Get acquainted with the city. Research coffee shops, restaurants, etc. nearby and plan ahead where you want to visit.
Find out who else will be attending the conference and reach out to those you want to connect with. Follow them on social media. Set up meetings ahead of time and add it to your calendars.
Read through the list of events being held at the conference. Get familiar with the agenda and the presenters. There will likely be several panels, workshops, and demos. Make sure you know which ones you are interested in ahead of time so you won’t miss a thing! Add sessions to your calendar.
Follow the event and healthcare speakers on social media. Twitter hashtags and Facebook pages are the best ways to keep up to date with the latest conference news. You can find out what others are saying and what tips they may have for you.
PLAN AHEAD FOR YOUR NEXT MEDICAL CONFERENCE NOW
PACKING
Travel Documents: Especially if you are traveling abroad, gather all the necessary documents and keep them handy and safe to ensure a smooth trip.
Clothes: There are packing apps to help you plan. Dress for success at the conference, and plan ahead what other activities you may encounter (sightseeing, dinner with colleagues, time at the gym.) Be sure to check the weather before you go.
Technology: You’ll certainly need your smartphone and tablet or laptop to take notes, keep in touch, etc.
Chargers: Nothing is worse than having your phone run out of battery and no way to charge it! Be sure to bring all your necessary chargers, and a portable one if you have it.
Business cards: Medical conferences are a great place to make new contacts and network. Don’t forget to bring plenty of business cards.
Water Bottle: A refillable water bottle is a great way to make sure you remain hydrated and is especially essential if you are presenting.
Gum/Breath Mints: This is a necessity if you want to make a good impression when meeting people or presenting.
Notebook and Pen: If you are old-school, nothing is better for making quick notes.
DURING THE CONFERENCE
Remain optimistic and flexible! Especially if you are attending a busy or major conference, there may be unexpected delays or cancellations. Keep a positive outlook and use this time in another productive way.
Interact. There will be lots of other healthcare providers at the conference, as well as medical supply reps and experts in their field. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to connect with as many people as you can. Actively participate in sessions, ask questions, and engage with speakers after their presentations.
Take notes. Keep that smartphone and notebook handy and be sure to take notes and photos during the conference. Plan to note down at least one key takeaway from each session and every conversation.
Have your introduction ready. Plan out a personal introduction or elevator pitch ahead of time. By doing this, introducing yourself to others at the conference will come more naturally.
