A Mini-Guide for Cancer Patients amidst the Coronavirus Pandemic
With the recent outbreak of coronavirus in the world, it has become clear that the situation will be devastating for a long time to come. People will have to learn how to cope with this deadly disease, while keeping all the precautions in mind. But while doing so, some people will be at higher risk and need to be more vigilant than others. These are people with weaker immune systems, mostly cancer patients.WHAT KIND OF CANCER PATIENTS ARE AT RISK?
All types of cancer patients are at risk, and if you are one of them, you need to schedule your appointment and get a medical check-up. Some, however, are at a higher risk than others. These are the following: 1. Patients whose chemotherapy is still active; 2. Patients undergoing antibody-based cancer treatment 3. Lung cancer patients who have opted for intensive radiation therapy 4. Patients with symptoms of blood cancer 5. Patients with bone marrow / stem cell transplantationr PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES FOR CANCER PATIENTS DURING COVID-19 Proper care must be taken of these patients and all preventive measures must be taken against coronavirus. The guidelines are as follows: 1. Schedule your appointment in advance and let your doctor know before you travel to the hospital. Also, take advice and follow all the necessary steps while meeting them. 2. Don't get out of your house needlessly or travel too much. Avoid going to public places or even hospitals for things that can be postponed or handled on call. 3. Always wear a mask outside your house, and also wash reusable masks regularly. 4. Don't touch your face. Use your gloves to keep your hands clean. 5. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds after coming home with a hand wash. Use a tissue or your elbows instead of covering your mouth with your hands while sneezing. Appropriately dispose of napkins in closed-lid dustbins. 6. Eat a balanced diet full of nutrients to make your immune system healthier. Wash vegetables and fruit properly, too. 7. Keep 2 meters away from the others when you're outside. Avoid direct contact, like a handshake or a touch. 8. Get a good night's sleep for at least 8 hours to give your body adequate rest in all kinds of cancer disorders. 9. If your doctor allows you to do regular exercise sessions and jogging to provide a good supply of oxygen to your heart and brain. It can be done on your house, terrace, balcony or verandah. 10. Don't smoke. Keep indoors ventilated to keep the air fresh. 11. Don't take too much stress or stress about anything. Share your conce s with family members, doctors, and be happy and positive. Not only active cancer patients, but also those who have recently received cancer treatment are prone to coronavirus due to their weak immune system.
