Have you noticed all the different intelligences we haventhese days?!nnCultural Quotient (CQ) nCuriosity Quotient (CQ) nEmotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ)nEmpathizing Quotient (EQ)nSystemizing Quotient (SQ)nSentience Quotient (SQ)nSocial Intelligence Quotient (SQ)nSpiritual Intelligence Quotient (SQ)nnSo that's four of them named SQ! Does this enhance ournlives?nnSurely only the FQ really matters!nnYou know, the simple fact is the more fun and humour we havenin our lives, the more we reduce the stress caused by thenmodern dis-ease of seriousness.nnPersonally I think having fun and being playful is thennatural human condition, it's just that certainnsystems/constraints in modern societies can have us actingnlike numb automatons.nnI'm inspired by an observation Anthropologist, ColinnTurnball made in his book, "The Forest People", with regardsnto how adult Pygmies laugh:nn"When Pygmies laugh it is hard not to be affected; they holdnon to each other as if for support, slap their sides, snapntheir fingers and go through all manner of physicalncontortions. If something strikes them as particularly funnynthey will even roll on the ground..."nnImagine being able to do that...nnOf course you probably wouldn't want to act like that at thenoffice, right?nnBut get this; Actually imagine falling down laughing like anPygmie in your office or place of work right now.nnSimply doing this in your imagination, enables you to havenmore access to the fun-zones of your mind in that situationnnext time you're there.nnDon't take my word for it though, test it out in your ownnexperience.nnIt's part of what I like to call, "The Ridiculous BehaviournGenerator" from page 60 of "The NLP ToolBox."nnBecause our minds go in directions, from time to time, it isnvery useful to purposefully re-direct our thought patterns.nSending our mind towards more fun and humour is an excellentnchoice because it enables us to have more flexibility ofnbehaviour and increased resourcefulness, whereas over-nseriousness tends to be a narrow, rigid state.nnSo go ahead and pick 3 situations now that you want ton'funify.'nnStarting with the one that will be the easiest to change, gonthrough the "Ridiculous Behaviour Generator" below:nnRidiculous Behaviour Generatornn1. Think of a situation where you want to have more fun.nn2. See yourself over there in the situation, like you arenwatching a movie.nn3. See yourself having more fun, maybe joking with the othernpeople in the movie.nn4. Go back to the start of the movie and try out a differentnway of having more fun. Perhaps notice something you haven'tnseen/heard before that makes you chuckle.nn5. Now, again from the start, see yourself in the movie andndo some behaviour(s) that you would never do in reality. Getnreally silly with this one. Do something outrageous thatnjust makes you crack up laughing.nn6. Break state. Think of the situation again and notice hownyou feel better about it and look forward to having evennmore fun in the situation in the future.nnGreat! In step 5 it's best to do something really outlandishnthat you'd never do in reality. You know, like launchingninto the room, naked, doing cartwheels or turning up to thatnmeeting in a Gimp suit, juggling fire sticks! The point is,ndoes it get you laughing because that's the direction younwant to be going in is it not?nnNow run the other 2 situations through the RidiculousnBehaviour Generator and begin to find yourself lookingnforward to a more fun filled future.nnWhen you've practised this technique a few times you willnbe able to do it faster, which will allow you to inject morenfun quickly and easily into situations before they'venoccurred and that's good planning right?nnMore fun! Less stress. Brighter futures. Better decisions.nnO'yeah and a boosted FQ!
