Hormonal contraceptive methods have become quite popular among women for preventing unplanned pregnancy. Oral contraceptive pills have been the most popular of the hormonal contraceptive methods. But it has been observed that contraceptive rings and contraceptive patches, the other hormonal contraceptive methods, are also gaining popularity at a fast pace. The oral contraceptive pills have been divided in to the categories of combined pill and the mini pill. This division is done on the basis of the artificial female hormones present in the pill. These pills are required to be taken on a daily basis by women and at the same time as well. Cerazette – A mini pill Cerazette is the most commonly used mini pill, which has been proven to be almost 99% effective in protecting women against pregnancy. It consists of desogestrel (artificial progesterone) as its active ingredient. Unlike other mini pills, this is the only pill which, like the combination pills, prevents ovulation from occurring. This pill can be taken by women who are 18 years old or above, but should be avoided by those who are pregnant. This pill can be taken by women who are allergic to oestrogen, are breastfeeding or those who are 35 years old and have a habit of smoking. Micronor – A mini pill Micronor is one of the most popular and commonly used mini pills by women. It has been proven to be almost 100% effective in preventing women from getting pregnant. It consists of Norethisterone (artificial progesterone, 0.35 milligrams) as its active ingredients. This pill works in two ways for protecting you against unplanned pregnancy. It can be taken by women who are 18 years old or above, but should be avoided by those who are pregnant. Some of the side effects of this pill that Micronor users can experience include headaches, migraines, nausea, changes in your weight and changes in your sex drive. Femulen – A mini pill Femulen is a mini pill which is quite popularly and commonly used by women as a means of contraception. It has been proven to be almost 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. It consists of ethynnodiol diacetate (artificial progesterone, 0.5 milligrams) as its active ingredient. This pill can prove to be helpful if you have a history of heart problems or blood clotting. This pill can be taken by women who are 18 years old or above, but should be avoided by those who are pregnant. You are required to take this pill for all 28 days of your menstrual cycle. Noriday – A mini pill Noriday is another of the popular and commonly used mini pills by women. It has been proven to be almost 99% effective in preventing women from getting pregnant.
