Why we need angernnWhy do we need anger? Consider the following reasons.n• To protect our rights n• To help us maintain an individual identitynn • To ward off those who are bent on preying on the weak n• To moralize against social injustice n• As a warning signal that our rights are being violatedn • To remind us of the things that we hold most dear n• To be used as a tool to protect not to destroy or hurt n• To at times protect more vulnerable emotionsn • To remind the strong that the weak are not defenseless n• To energize us to make positive changes in our livesn • To give us the time to retreat, compose ourselves and live to fight another dayn • To protect the vulnerable among us n• To detect danger and create a survivable plan of action nWe should never forget that anger is a tool, it must be understood and used effectively for the purpose it was designed. Some have painted this picture that anger is all bad. This is a fallacy. Anger is neutral. It is the individual who decides if anger will be put to constructive or destructive use. When one begins to revisit their perspective on anger then the healing will begin. The emergence of anger is not a call to action necessarily. It is a signal that something is not right and must be addressed. Our job is to use our anger to make worthwhile decisions that help us grow as human, not destroy us and those around us.nWell designed anger management will teach participants the most effective ways to manage anger. These programs should teach anger management, stress management, emotional intelligence and communication skills.
