Are You Continually 'Chasing Things?'

From an early age we are 'conditioned' to attain success. By success I mean the pursuit of worldly riches and status and material things. We are taught to be egotistical...to worry about how many riches and things we can accumulate compared to everyone else. We are taught the accumulation of these things will make us successful and 'happy.'
This is not the way to be truly happy. Happiness is not based on how much wealth and fame you have and how many things you own. Happiness only comes from within you. You can be one of the richest people in the world and still be very unhappy. I know that sounds crazy to many of you, but it is the truth.
I know of many weathly people who indeed are very happy and living life to their full potential. They are following their passions, using their talents to make life better for others, serving others, and experiencing the unlimited worldly rewards such an existence naturally brings.
I also know of many very rich people who are very unhappy. Once they attain a worldly goal they find it did not give them the happiness they thought it would and they are back 'in the chase' for more material things. They spend their entire life 'chasing' what they think will make them happy. They accumulate immense amounts of worldly things but happiness still eludes them. We cannot purchase happiness with worldly fortune.
Many people who are not rich and powerful and do not possess many material things are perfectly happy. How can this be?
Happiness is only found within us. It is not found by increasing the ego, increasing your bank account, increasing your fame, or buying more and more material things. Happiness is a 'state of mind' and this state of mind is available to everyone right where they are right now.
The person who is truly happy puts other people first and expects nothing in return. The person who is truly happy understands they are here on earth to serve others and when they help others make their life better they get the biggest smile their face can handle.
If you give to others with a genuine heart you will attract everything you're capable of handling or needing to live a happy life. When you put your ego-self last, you actually end up ahead and all your needs and desires are fulfilled in a supe
atural way.
Our ego is never satisfied. When you live an ego-based life you will constantly be required to 'chase' more money, fortune, and things and will never get to the end of that 'chase.'
If you can step back and determine if you are living an ego-based life you can return to a calm, Source-centered lifestyle in your conscious mind and step out of the 'rat race' we are conditioned to live in. If you can become more aware of the tremendous power of your ego you can begin to rein it in, calm it down, control it, and eventually suppress it totally.
Once you 'discover' how your ego rules your life you take some of its power away immediately. When you begin to go about your day 'watching' how your ego makes you think, feel, and act you will begin to see how superficial and hollow your daily life can be.
By becoming more aware of our ego and then shifting our thoughts, feelings, and actions to the pursuit of how we can serve others, we begin to be 'in harmony' with the Universal Laws of our Source that govern all of our lives. By aligning our thoughts, feelings, and actions with the harmony of Source a supe
atural power flows to us and allows us to begin changing our life and move away from 'the chase' and into a life of peace, joy, happiness and fulfillment.
When your ego pushes you to feel good about your personal successes, bank account, position in society, cool things you own, recognize this false happiness and step back and shift your attention instantly to less fortunate individuals. By doing this you will force the ego to become smaller and you will feel more connected to life itself. You will appreciate what you have much more and take a chunk of power away from your ego.
Imagine how you would feel if you had no ego at all? You would stop chasing money, fame, and material things and doing all kinds of crazy things people do to attain them. The 'chase' is highly stressful and causes anxiety and worry and unhappiness.
With no ego you would begin living to serve others with your unique God-given talents and the supe
atural power of our Source would bless you with more than you ever had in your life. People who live to serve others and make the world a better place will receive back tenfold of what they give.
You have a choice to make. Either continue to 'stay in the chase' and attempt to accumulate as much money, power, and things you can muster in your lifetime and possibly end up unhappy forever, or decide to step back, watch your ego daily, attempt to begin serving others with your talents and skills, and move much closer to living with true inner happiness and fulfillment.
The more you 'chase' your worldly desires, the faster they will run from you. You may capture many of them, but will they bring you happiness? Once you capture some of them I suspect your ego will present many more things for you to begin chasing again. It's a never-ending circle of UNfulfillment.
Step out of that never-ending chase and decide to be an impartial witness of your life. In other words, become 'tuned in' to watching your ego-self during your day. Recognize that your big old ego is running your life, not the real person you are on the inside.
Once you are 'aware' of your ego you will begin to uncover the wonderful traits you possess within. You will become more calm and peaceful once you 'see' the rat race you've been running in, along with everyone else with unconscious abandon. Dismissing the hold your ego has on you will allow your 'inner wonderfulness' to begin showing up in your life.
It is perfectly fine to have lots of money, be famous, live in beautiful homes and drive beautiful cars, and have loving relationships in your life. Each of us was created and put on this earth to experience all of our dreams and desires and the best life has to offer. The problem is that when we accumulate all these things with our ego-self they all appear to be hollow and unfulfilling to us. Our ego tells us we must get more and more to be happy, and true peace and happiness eludes us.
By getting rid of our ego-self and using our unique talents and skills we were blessed with to help others, and make life better for everyone, all of our worldly dreams and desires will make there way into our life.
By living in harmony with our Source we attract our dreams and desires in a supe
atural way and our lives take on true meaning and purpose. The more we do for others, the more we are blessed with to do even bigger and better things.
This is the never-ending circle of happiness and FULfillment...CoachDoug.
