Biography of Study Grandmaster #3 - Learning How to Walk

Growing from a crawling baby to a toddler was particularly memorable to me. I guess it could be due to the pain I suffered in the process of learning how to walk. It was not easy for me. I do not know if it were my small legs that are unable to support my weight or my head is simply too big, causing me to topple easily.nnInitially I was plain lazy. I was too used to being carried around by my parents and sitting in my baby chair. During that time, I did not understand why my parents will grab my hands in the air and try to make me walk. I thought they are making fun of me, so I simply let my legs swing in the air. After many attempts, they gave up and tried a new strategy. To encourage me to make an effort to stand, they hold a biscuit high up in the air, out of reach from my little arms. I tried many times, but keep on falling down. Out of exasperation and pain, I cried out loud until my parents decided to give the biscuit to me.nnThere was once when I saw my favorite biscuit lying on the desk, Hungrily, I crawled to it but it was too high for me. I tried standing up to grab hold of it, but just could not stand long enough. Then out of a sudden, my dog, Fluffy jumped up to the desk and bites the biscuit. I felt damn happy as I thought help has arrived. But to my horror, instead of passing the biscuit to me, Fluffy gobbled up the biscuit swiftly. I wailed out loud.nnGrandmaster Lesson 3:nnDo not depend on others to succeed. The best way is to help yourself.nnThat incident greatly inspired me to learn walking. My dog is smaller than me and yet, it can jump higher than me. If it can do it, why can’t me? I suddenly abandon my baby chair and started crawling. Gradually, my leg power improved and I could stand up to reach things on the desk. My mother was surprised in my sudden motivation to walk and gave me her fullest support.nnGradually, I started to walk a few steps. It was the first moment in my life that I felt a sense of achievement. I liked the feeling of feeling higher and everytime I fall, I will tried to get up again. Finally, I remembered standing up and walking in baby steps into the open arms of my mother. My parents laughed out in joy.nnGrandmaster Lesson 4:nnIt is not a matter of how hard you fall. It is a matter of how high you bounce.
