Yaz-Yasmin is a birth control pill manufactured by Bayer pharmaceuticals. It was the first contraceptive pill to contain drospirenone. Yaz-Yasmin is an oral contraceptive pill. It stops egg release from ovary, thickens uterus and cervical lining in a woman, thus causing prevention of pregnancy.
It is also got clearance from FDA for treatment of mild acne and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) symptoms in adult woman. Doctors also prescribe Yaz-Yasmin for anxiety, depression, irritability, lack of concentration, lack of energy as these symptoms could be related to PMDD.

Severe Side Effects of Yaz-Yasmin
Yaz-Yasmin has been in controversy for a long time as several women reported about its severe side effects. This led to many studies to find out the side effects of Yaz-Yasmin. Different studies reveal that it can cause many severe side effects. They are as follows.
Hyperkalemia
One of the most severe side effects of Yaz-Yasmin is Hyperkalemia. Hyperkalemia refers to high potassium level in blood. Patients having adrenal insufficiency, any renal disorder and hepatic dysfunction should not take Yaz-Yasmin as it can worsen the condition as these conditions can lead to higher potassium level. Patients using potassium-sparing diuretics while using Yaz-Yasmin should consult their doctor and get their potassium level checked regularly.
Liver Disease
If a patient has liver diseases including Jaundice, she should not use Yaz-Yasmin as it can lead to worsening of the condition. In worst cases it can lead to rupture of hepatic adenomas and it could cause death. Women having a history of pregnancy-related cholestasis should avoid.
High Blood Pressure
It can worsen the hypertension so it is avoidable in patients having high blood pressure.
Gallbladder Disease
It can increase risk of developing gallbladder disease. It has been seen that some patients have developed abdominal diseases after long-term use of Yaz-Yasmin. It could lead to increase in the level of cholesterol in the body. Patients could encounter disturbance to bile and development of gallstones, with regular use of Yaz-Yasmin. It could also reduce the gallbladder’s contractions and could cause deposition of bile in gallbladder and can result into inflammation. This condition is known as acute acalculous gallbladder disease. Patient may need to get his gallbladder removed to treat this problem.

Increased risk of Blood clotting
Use of Yaz-Yasmin could lead to increased risk of blood clotting. If these clots move to lungs, they could cause pulmonary embolism. These clots can form in deep veins anywhere in the body.
Increased risk of Heart Attack
Prolonged use of Yaz-Yasmin could lead to increased risk of Heart attack. Yaz-Yasmin could lead to blood clots, which could travel to heart and could cause heart attack.
