It is one of those ” wish I had thought of that!” products. One of my favorite serving bowls is a sugar bowl because it has a nice lip around the top (for the lid to sit on) that helps prevent the dip from spilling over the edge as you try to scoop it onto a cracker. It is way too small to be really practical for parties but I still bring it out knowing I will have to refill it more often. Then someone told me about the CaliBowls.rnJeff Bollengier, a native from California and surfer enthusiast, invented theses bowls purely out of the constant frustration of trying to get fresh salsa onto a chip. The lip of the CaliBowl is designed like a wave with an inward curve, that pushes the dip back onto whatever you are eating with, such as, a chip, veggie slice or utensil. So, no more slopping the food over the edge of the bowl and coming up with an empty chip. Or, unthinkably, using a finger to push the dip onto the chip. We would never do that. Thank goodness the CaliBowls are also microwaveable, dishwasher-safe and BPA free making it a very versatile serving vessel. In addition, they come with a no spill lid (perfect for pot lucks and left overs) and a non slip bottom (less accidents). These reasonably priced bowls (from $7.00 to $14.00) come in great vibrant colors and sizes that fit well for dips, cereal, soup and mixing bowls. The non-slip bottom and curved lips are perfect when baking with little girls – less mess and accidents.rnSimple Wave, the company that makes the CaliBowl has partnered with Shriners Hospital in donating CaliBowls to the hospital. Their specially designed bowls, with its curved lip and non slip bottom, have made it easier for children with certain disabilities, like cerebral palsy, to eat with less frustration. Another great example for how companies can make a difference and have a positive impact on a community. You can buy them on Amazon, directly from the CaliBowl site or at the retail locations listed on this page.
