Comotivate - A Test Of Peer Support

How effectively can one achieve a goal in isolation? Self-determination is certainly a key factor in success, but a new website sets out to test just how much more successful one can be in a team. ncomotivate.com works in a way which allows that team to be made up of identical (in theory) people who have been matched by the site's database - like a dating service.
Founder, Matt Lawton hopes that people will succeed where once they failed because comotivate removes typical excuses/reasons for failure. Lawton says, "I'm a skinny guy who needs to do more to keep fit. It's not great to hit the gym with a friend who's naturally bigger than me - I'm demotivated from the start. But the world's a big place and I reckon there's someone else out there who's my age, my height, my weight and shares my motivation. That's who I want to buddy with because that's a fairer way for me to compete."
It's not just physical health goals covered on comotivate. The site can match people with ambitions to solve mental health issues and beyond that, set goals for starting a business, reducing your carbon footprint, reducing debt, passing an exam - the list is extensive and there are tools to help track progress.
Lawton continues, "For anyone who's been denied the amazing feeling of teamwork and belonging, this site can deliver that momentum. If you're inactive, you get benched and if you're active, you get rewarded."ncomotivate.com promises to be an interesting exercise in testing how far peer level support can replace 'expert' mentorship. But Lawton is quick to emphasise the opportunity for coaching, "I want life and fitness coaches on the site running teams and marketing themselves. I see it as a great way for them to show their capabilities and drive traffic to their own sites. In the future, I hope to be able to create a viable commercial proposition for coaches to participate on comotivate, but for now - it's experimental."
