In criticizing the law of attraction I ask: Does it really work? Is it just a scam perpetrated by it's promoters to make money? Or is it kind of like the placebo effect:; you get what you expect, whether there's been a real change or not. If you are reading this you probably know the basic premise of the Law of Attraction is that everything that happens to you is because of your own thoughts. I think the answer is Yes to all of the above.. Yes, it does really work. But not in the way most of it's promoters emphasize. Yes, it is a scam by promoters trying to make money off of you. Yes, it is a kind of placebo effect. How can I believe all of these? Don't they contradict? No they don't. The Law of Attraction is the Power of Thought taken to another level. And the power of thought has been demonstrated by many individuals. People can think themselves sick and they can think themselves well. Ulcers are mostly a result of anxious thoughts. You've probably heard of psychosomatic illness. My father was subject to one of these. It helped him avoid doing activities he didn't like to do. When it was time to do certain things, he would feel ill. When the time for those activties past, he would feel better again. It's highly documented the difference attitude has on physical recovery of heart problems. Those with positive attitudes recover quicker and more completely than those with pessimistic attitudes. That is those who think they will recover recover faster than those who think they won't recover. In fact, those that think they will never recover often never do recover. People picture themselves doing something they really want to do with incredible intensity and focus and they are likely to achieve it. This intensity gives them the motivation to work to master whatever skills they need. This focus also gives them the awareness to recognize opportunities when they present themselves. And the determination to overcome set backs. People who see themselves as inferior, will be inferior because they won't put in the amount of effort needed to improve their standing. They think "What's the point? I can't be like that, achieve that success, I'm not that good, so why bother?" rnThe Power of Positive Thinking makes the Law of Attraction work in a helpful positive way, which in a way, is a placebo effect except that it can never be considered just a placebo. If you do consider it just a placebo, you are no longer thinking positively. But many, not all, of the promoters of The Law of Attraction do perpetuate a type of scam if they promise effortless realization of your dreams if you just buy their product and follow their guidelines.
