Are you suffering from chronic anxiety disorder? Angst in itself is not a bad feeling. It is a useful feeling as it enables us to prepare ourselves well for any anticipated challenge. Anxiety tells us we need to prepare for something and be ready to meet the challenge. In the absence of anxiety we are likely to take things for granted and underperform. However, when this useful feeling goes beyond reasonable limits it is not possible for the individual who is experiencing it perform at a normal level. Even the ordinary day to day activities turn to be the most difficult issues. If you are anticipating a very important interview or if you are getting ready for a stage show and if you are becoming anxious then it is considered to be a reasonable response. Once the interview is over or the show is over you will become normal continuing with your regular life. On the other hand, if you are going to lose your night’s sleep anxious about getting to work on time and if this happens every night then it is not a useful anxiety as it is preventing you from taking a good rest. Moreover your fear here is unreasonable under normal circumstances. This is just one isolated example how someone who suffers anxiety disorders will not be able to take care of their normal activities. How do you deal with these challenges? How to go about addressing these issues? If you have identified that your situation to have gone beyond the normal levels then do not wait for it to just disappear. Your negative behaviour will only reinforce the state of anxiety making things worse by day. Get an appointment from a terapeut immediately. Your therapist will be able to help you overcome your issue. When you approach a psychotherapist to address your anxiety disorder issues, do not expect things to change ove ight. You will need time to unlea the negative traits which you have got used to and which you have been practising for years. You will need to allow yourself adequate time to overcome the problems with the help of the therapist. Do not blame the effectiveness of the therapist if you were to take time to overcome your anxiety. Different individuals respond differently to therapy. Moreover, no two people have the same factors triggering the anxiety. You will therefore need to work with yourself patiently until you overcome the condition. You need to keep the end in mind so that you remain motivated to deal with the condition effectively. Once you overcome the problem imagine the amount of freedom you are likely to enjoy. You will be in total control of your life. You will have more time for other things rather than having your energy drained on trivia. Therefore it is worth making an effort to overcome the anxiety disorder.
