Every choice that you make and every action that you take is designing your life and your career. Whether you take an active or a passive role in the creation of your life, you’re creating it. Setting goals for things that you want but do not yet see in your life is a great way to hold yourself accountable. When you set a goal, you must make it clear and precise. If you can’t figure out what you want and the steps you need to take you get you there, who will? It is a good idea to write down your goal on a piece of paper. Once you have written down the goal, list the steps you are going to take to make it happen. Once you have listed the steps, write down exactly how you are going to make those steps. Here’s an example: Goal: Increase personal profits by $100,000 in 90 days Step 1: Get a Business Coachrna) Understand my needs and what I am looking for in a coach rnb) Research business coaching firms onlinernc) Talk to friends or colleagues about their coach Step 2: Obtain more capital funding to pursue new opportunitiesrna) Put together a business plan rnb) Schedule meetings for a loan with banks rnc) Talk to private lenders about my plan and how they can help Step 3: Put together a dream teamrna) Attend business networking eventsrnb) Call friends or business partnersrnc) Schedule meetings with people I would like on my team Step 4: Focus!rna) Spend an hour each morning before I start my day being quiet and open to inspirationrnb) Stay away from negative thoughts and negative people that can prohibit the realization of my goalrnc) Remain open and pursue opportunities that cross your path Following this method to achieve your desires is a great start. Ultimately, however, your success depends on you. Set your goals high, hold yourself accountable, and make it happen! Remember: tough times don’t last, tough people do.
