Acne is an embarrassing onerous problem. It’s a skin disorder that results from the action of hormones on one’s sebaceous glands leading to clogged pores, (whiteheads and blackheads) and cysts outbreaks known as pimples. Acne can occur on your chest, back, neck, shoulders and worse of all on your face. There are ways of treating acne, from readily available home remedies to prescription and over the counter treatments. Yogurt is a perfect example of a home remedy used for treating acne, and can be used in two main ways – applying it topically on the affected areas and consuming it orally. Oral consumption of yogurt gives the body the much needed nutrients that will fight acne causing bacteria. The first way that you can use yogurt to treat acne topically is making a face mask using comfrey leaves, cosmetic clay, honey, and of course yogurt. Take a tablespoonful of yogurt, a tablespoonful of ground comfrey leaves, a tablespoonful of cosmetic clay and the same for honey and mix all of them in a bowl to form a paste. Set the mixture aside and wash your face gently and thoroughly using a cleanser and then applying the paste on the affected area. For best results, leave the paste on your face for 15-20 minutes and then using a clean washcloth and warm water, wipe out the mask, making sure you rinse it all off. You can then go ahead and apply your moisturizer of course after patting the face dry using a clean towel. You can repeat this procedure on a daily basis or after a day or two until you get the desired results. It’s also advisable to use both forms of yogurt i.e. applying it topically and consuming it so that you can maximize your chances of getting rid of acne once and for all. A point to note, before you use the yogurt, you should mix it well as quite often fruits in the yogurt tend to settle at the bottom of the yogurt bowl. Many people prefer yogurt for treating acne scars because it is readily available and is all natural meaning that it has no known side effects on your skin. But when all is said and done, there ain’t any definite treatment for acne, the best you can do is to prevent it by taking the right kinds of foods, and taking great care of your skin.
