It may be trite and old-fashioned, but the enduring answer to the question of how to be a success in life and to realize all your dreams lies in these two words: positive thinking. Positive thinking is the secret to a happy and successful life. It can be the key to good health and longevity as well, because it helps to manage stress and prevent diseases. The "secret" or "miracle" that is positive thinking has been around for ages, even before new age philosophy has become part of popular culture. But with the publication of books like The Secret and the open support that many celebrities have shown for positive thinking and similar principles, there has been renewed public interest in the idea that people can change their lives by simply changing how they think. Many people have, once again, begun to use affirmations and visualization techniques to help them think more positively, attract good things into their lives, and make their dreams come true. Positive thinking is embodied in the revolutionary principle called the Law of Attraction. Simply put, this law states that the quality of a person's thoughts shapes his reality. If he thinks negative thoughts, bad things will come into his life. If he thinks positive thoughts, good things will happen to him. Thoughts are like magnets that pull toward the person good or bad things, depending on the quality of the thoughts. When applied properly and diligently, the Law of Attraction becomes a powerful tool that guides a person on how to be a success in life. Positive thinking and the Law of Attraction may sound like simple things to do, but they do require practice and diligence. Many people may be unaware of it, but they have become used to thinking negatively and pessimistically. Most people employ negative self-talk all the time, and they don't even know it. They must try to examine their thoughts, and watch out for statements like: • "It's too hard." • "I can't do it." • "I don't have enough time or resources." • "I'm too old for this." These are examples of negative thoughts and self-talk that ultimately create the reality that one lives. People who are prone to thinking that everything is too hard don't attempt new things, don't take on greater responsibilities, and refuse to take advantage of opportunities. No wonder they don't see any improvement on their present lives. On the other hand, people who think optimistically and are open to new things and ideas will often rise above difficulties and attain success sooner or later. When something bad happens, a person should not immediately blame outside circumstances or other people. Instead, he should examine how he thinks and he may see some surprising answers there. Most people, if they are honest, will find that their thinking and attitude is not always positive or optimistic. But anyone can change to modify his negative outlook into a more positive and constructive one. With practice, one can learn to let go of all negative self-talk and self-criticism, and be more cognizant instead of his strengths and potentials. In time, they will also learn to be less critical of the world at large and of people around them. Their life will surely change for the better, all because they modified their thoughts and attitude. Positive thinking can work wonders for anyone who is willing to give it a try, and it most definitely paves the way to how to be a success in life.
