Mesa, AZ - With job cuts by major employers exceeding nmore than half a million in the first six months of this year, nworkers on all levels are feeling the squeeze. "It¡¯s no longer nbusiness as usual," says Martin Howey, CEO of TopLine nBusiness Solutions, a Phoenix-based consultancy training nfirm. nnn"The days where an experienced or highly-trained, highly-ncompensated executive can lose his or her job one day nand land an equal or better job within a reasonable time nare rapidly vanishing, and it¡¯s causing personal and family nstress and financial concerns for a valuable segment of the nU.S. workforce. But forward thinking executives are quickly nturning these negatives into better lifestyles, and in some ncases, small fortunes for themselves, their families, and ntheir newfound clients."nnnLast month alone (June 2005), U.S. corporations nannounced plans to eliminate 110,996 jobs, and the nnumbers for July could be higher, making the outlook for nexecutive re-employment for the remaining months of this nyear even more dismal.nnn"On one hand, it¡¯s a sad situation," said Howey, whose firm nspecializes in helping business executives become self-nemployed consultants. "It¡¯s sad that executives with so nmuch valuable experience are being displaced and their nfamilies and their financial futures are being negatively naffected. It¡¯s an equally sad situation for American nbusinesses who have come to depend on this experience nto build their successful enterprises, but are no longer in a nposition to take advantage of it and may be losing that ncritical experience to their competitors.nnn"On the other hand," continues Howey, "for the person nwho wants to escape the corporate rat race and start a nbusiness of their own where they can use their experience nconsulting with other businesses, the time has never been nbetter. Small and medium size businesses are struggling nwith the same issues as the big companies, but they can¡¯t ncut jobs in order to cope. Instead, smaller businesses have nno choice but to turn their efforts to growing their nbusinesses, generating more revenue, and operating at ntheir optimal capacity and efficiency. nnn"Massive layoffs and cutbacks are rapidly filling the market nwith people who have the basic knowledge and skill of how nto help struggling businesses, but most lack effective nmarketing and implementation systems. With the right tools nand systems in the right hands, high six-figure incomes nworking less than 30 hours a week are very doable."nHowey, a 38-year veteran of corporate consulting, nfounded TopLine Business Solutions two years ago, after ncreating a similar European-based organization and building nit to a Certified Accountant¡¯s Valuation of $12.4 million in nonly 6 ? months. TopLine¡¯s more than 200 associates nundergo a week-long intensive training program that nincludes client acquisition, identifying areas of opportunity, nand creating and implementing corrective solutions and nproductivity systems. TopLine¡¯s associates operate under a nfee-based licensing arrangement and pay no ongoing nsupport fees or royalties.
