Firstly, to see an actual Oil Change being carried out step by step by an expert, so you know what I'm talking about, visit VideoJug.com.nnOverall, an oilchange is something every car needs at least every 3 months or 3000 miles, depending on the vehicle. And it's important to note that a DIY job can save you quite a bit of money. nnThe first step in a DIY oil change is to find out how much oil your car requires. It is usually 4 quarts, but some cars require more, or less. nnNext, aquire your materials. nYou will need: n1) an oil pan. n2) a Wrench set n3) 4-5 quarts of sw 10-30 oil. n4) oil filter (parts houses will help you find the right fit.) n5)Oil filter wrench. (only a few dollars at the parts house.) n6.) a jack and jack stands. nnThe first thing to do is let your car run for about 10 minutes and set for about ten minutes. This is to mix up the impurities in the oil pan. nnNext, carefully jack up the front end of the car and secure it with jackstands. Underneath your car, look for a bolt on a big metal pan - this is your drain plug. Position the oilpan under it, and unscrew with a wrench. After the oil stops draining; reatach the bolt. nnNow locate the oil filter and unscrew with the filter wrench. Use a small bit of oil and lather the seal of the new filter and screw on. nnThe next, and final stage in an oil change is to add the oil. Simply pour it in the crankshaft on top of the engine. Its that simple! nnCarefully let the car down and recycle the old oil. Clean up and let the car idle for about 10 minutes.nnPlease consult your owners manual and repair manual for exact oil weight, amount, and filter location. If you feel unsafe with anything, don't do it. Injury isn't worth the risk!
