This can happen due to cold winter weather, heating in the house, bathing with too hot or too cold water, or rough towel drying. Honey, a dry skin natural remedy, is a substance that is healing to the skin. When applied to the skin it is healing and moisturizing. It helps dead skin cells move from the surface and stimulates renewal and re growth of skin tissues. It is also antibacterial. In severe cases, you can put honey on skin that needs a bandage. It will keep the bandage from sticking to the wounded skin. Yogurt can be used as a skin cleanser, acting as a natural moisturizer. Oatmeal heals and soothes dry skin, and helps the skin to slough off dead skin cells. One example of skin care for dry skin is avoiding overexposure to the sun. While everyone loves to look tanned in the summer, sitting in the sun too much can cause many problems, the least of which is dry skin. Skin cancer is a real risk from overexposure to the sun's rays. Overexposure to the sun may not show up in our skin immediately, but does over time. Premature wrinkles and aging is a consequence of too much sun and tanning. Usually by the time the individual has reached this point, it's almost too late to start practicing skin care for dry skin. It's never too late; however, preventing it is much easier than trying to cure it. Causes of Dry Skin The main causes of dry skin includes: • The oil glands do not supply enough lubrication to the skin. As a result, the skin becomes dehydrated. • Skin gets exposed to the elements especially in winter. • Dry skin could be due to a genetic condition. • Poor diet. Nutritional deficiencies, especially deficiencies of vitamin A and the B vitamins, can also contribute to dry skin. • Environmental factors such as exposure to sun, wind, cold, chemicals, or cosmetics, or excessive bathing with harsh soaps. • Conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, or seborrhea. • Certain drugs, including diuretics, antispasmodics, and antihistamines, can contribute to dry • Over-use of soap and water, a dry, warm indoor climate, excessive sunbathing and other environmental effects have a great influence on how dry the skin can become. Treatment for Dry Skin: 1] Diet is also one of the factors for dry skin ailments. Plenty of vitamins A and B can help the skin produce natural oils and avoid dry skin. 2] The usage of soap on dry skin should be minimal because it strips the natural oils from the skin and leaves the skin dry. 3] Weather conditions can also be the cause of dry skin. 4] Bathing in very hot water too often will also dry your skin out. 5] The best thing you can do for your dry skin is exfoliate daily. 6] Another thing you should do to help your dry skin is to cleanse it regularly.
