Most of us experience an afternoon slump. You know, where you just want to curl up on your desk and take a nap. While it is a natural function of the human body, employers tend to frown on outright sleeping on the job. So how can you avoid an afternoon slump? By eating right. Here are easy ways to get past the slump with eating.
  1. Eat breakfast. By setting the engine running earlier, you avoid blood sugar rushes and drops that can cause fatigue.
  2. Eat a good breakfast. Any breakfast won't do. A good, low-fat breakfast is going to server your body better than a couple of jelly donuts.
  3. Drink water, lots of it. Caffeine can rebound on you. Cold water will invigorate and replenish your fluids at the same time. (Note: don't overdo this, drinking too much too quickly can be dangerous!)
  4. Eat a balanced lunch. Just as jelly donuts set you on the blood sugar roller coaster, so does a high-fat, low-fiber lunch. Low fat protein, veggies and whole grains are better choices.
You probably have heard these things a million times. Commit to trying them out for three days. See if it doesn't inspire you to keep it up! There are other ways to get past the slump as well. For more information, see my article at SimpleProductivityBlog, "Avoiding Afternoon Slump"
