A recent New Zealand study claims that the electronic cigarette would allow you to quit smoking smoothly. However, the e-cigarette can also encourage some to take up smoking if we are to believe US statistics. According to them, the number of teenagers adopting electronic cigarettes has doubled in 1 year, reaching 1.7 million young Americans. With flavors like strawberry, apple or tarte tatin, American teens tend to confuse electronic cigarettes with sweets. According to figures from the CDC (Center for Contyrole and Disease Prevention), the number of middle and high school students addicted to electronic cigarettes would have doubled in 1 year. Today, more tha 1.7 million young people regularly smoke electronic cigarettes. Worse still, according to the CDC, 160,000 young people have tested the e-cigarette without ever having tried to smoke a real cigarette before. We are therefore entitled to wonder if the electronic cigarette, considered less dangerous, would not be a first step with active smoking ... Among high school students, experimentation at least once with the electronic cigarette has increased from 4.7% in 2011 to 10% in 2012, and its current use from 1.5% to 2.8%. Almost 7.2% have never smoked a conventional cigarette.
