Feeding the Hungry—The Life of a Missionary

An overview of the wisdom in life of the path chosen by missionary people. The meaning in life they wanted to live is shown on the people they were able to help. rnThey see beyond the vast riches of earth. They wanted to achieve more than prestige and power. And their only reward is a heartfelt and sincere smile of gratefulness from the hungry children they fed. The life of a missionary is difficult to understand. What they have in the heart is far different from the heart of common people who just live life to achieve something. More than the riches of earth, they have found meaning in their vocation. My mother never understood my sister’s decision when she signed up for a vocation to serve God. She believes that her daughter’s life would be wasted on praying and kneeling for people’s sins. Despite the fact that my mother is an active church leader also, she refuses to accept the decision of her first born child. But she was determined to pursue her life in convent, thus she flew and left my mother devastated and confused. Because my mother believes that a woman’s life should be that of a mother and a wife. But my sister believes otherwise. Why would you feed children you don’t even know? Why would you even bother taking care of old men and women when their own family even abandoned them? These questions are seems selfish yet still difficult to understand by a common person. When a person chooses to live a life for the service of the people, they choose to find joy in helping people. Helping people is like gold for them. The more they help the more they become rich in spirit. Being able to put hope in the hearts of despaired and abandoned children is like amassing millions in your bank. For them their millions is not money, their millions are the hope they were able to put in the heart of these people. Their hearts are overwhelmed with loved that they need to share it with these people whose heart is tainted with depression. Everyday new additions to the team of missionaries are needed and filled. Their joy for helping is influential to the world. And their constant fights to help these poor people win them love and admiration. But they are not aware of these. What they wanted instead is to make the world understand the real situation of the world. The inequality and injustices has caused havoc and depression to some parts in the world. If not for them, all of these abandoned children would have not known the real essence of living and loving. All of us are missionaries in our lives. We may not feed the hungry and abandoned children, but we are helping also the people who depend on us. If not of our presence some flow of work or family would have not been possible without our being a missionary to our own lives.
