If modern fashion gurus are anything to go by (namely Susannah and Trinny, Lisa and Mica, and Gok Wan) then how you feel about your own appearance is just as important as how you look to anyone else. Clothes, shoes, hair style, cosmetics, and jewellery all reflect who you are and what you stand for. They all leave perceptions in the people we meet. Perfumes are just as important and choosing the right fragrance which will leave the right impression is an undoubted skill. It is important that whilst making your choices to understand that while our sense of smell is not the first we think about. If we are ever confronted with a smell that is too strong or obnoxious the memory stays with us a long while. If we don’t like someone’s clothes, it is likely to be something you will get over, but smells or fragrances can be very personal. If we don’t like a personal smell, then the turn-off could be an experience that is never really forgotten. What impression will your perfume make? So, consider your fragrances to be a key staple in your fashion toolbox, and choose with some thought as to what impression you are trying to make. Whether you breeze into a room with delicate floral notes wafting behind you, or you leave a bar with an intoxicating mix of musks and spices, you should at least have chosen these signature imprints, and not have them chosen for you. Perfumes can be expensive and so it always useful to visit the internet to find fragrances that won’t break your bank account. Discount websites are good to find and will help you experiment with a number of scents. Eau de toilette or the stronger eau de parfum, at much less than perfume-price, are great to “trial” before finding your personal collection of real perfumes. Match your perfume to activity and clothes You may like to have a perfume that suits your outfits. Imagine your blue jeans, boots and T-shirts with a cowboy jacket, and match these with a Boss Orange Celebration of Happiness eau de toilette or a Britney Spears Believe in an eau de parfum - both have fruity notes and an air of youthfulness which are perfect for a casual day in the fresh spring air. Or imagine your smart charcoal suit, with red patent stilettos in your office and match that with a rather more sophisticated and sharper perfume, still floral but for a stronger personality, such as Cabotine de Gres in an eau de toilette which you can refresh at times throughout the day. For the evenings consider your strapless sparkly gold/green midcalf length dress with a long Indian shawl of many colours and match that to Cacharel’s Eden with its sandalwood and patchouli on top of mandarin, lemon and jasmine, and you really cannot go wrong. Wear these perfumes with pride, as your fashion cherry-on-top, or your autograph when you leave a room; the perfect fashion accessories.
