Muscular cramps are characterized by involuntary and sudden contractions of a muscle or of many muscles. Rigorous exercises, dehydratation, muscle fatigue provoked by overexertion, a difficult exercise, excess weight, nerve abnormalities, and side effects of some medicines can be some of these causes. Researchers have discovered that there are some home remedies that can effectively cure muscle cramps. They have also discovered that consuming food rich in potassium and calcium eliminates the problem. 1. Bananas, potatoes, broccoli, pulses, cabbage, grapes, raisins dates, pork fish and lamb are rich in potassium therefore they are very helpful to get rid of muscle cramps. 2. You can also use an herbal oil lotion for massage. You can prepare this lotion from a cup of almond oil or extra virgin oil, mixed with one ounce of Cramp bark tincture, a half of ounce of Lobelia tincture, one-fourth ounce of Willow bark tincture or 30 drops of Wintergreen oil. Store the lotion in a bottle and massage your body with it. 3. Glycine is an amino acid that has the property to relax your muscles. Chamomile tea is rich in this amino acid. So if you suffer from muscles cramps drink 4-5 cups of chamomile tea every day for 2 weeks. 4. Honey has proved to be an efficient remedy for muscles cramps and not only. It is a very old and efficient natural remedy. Take regularly 10 ml of honey with your meals. 5. Acetic acid helps at the acetylcholine production. Acetylcholine is a stimulant for muscles. Pickle juice and mustard contain acetic acid so they are recommended as a home remedy to combat the muscles cramp. Take 15 ml of mustard or a few grams of pickle juice. 6. Apple cider vinegar mixed with other natural substances or water is a very helpful home remedy in many health problems as obesity, sore throat, and cellulite. And it has beneficial effects in muscle cramps, as well. Mix 5 ml (a teaspoon) of honey and 10 ml (2 teaspoons) of apple cider vinegar in 100 ml of warm water and drink this solution 7. Lavender oil is another beneficial natural treatment. It is a very strong antispasmodic and that's why it is recommended in muscle cramps treatments. 8. Take bathes in an Ayurvedic solution. Saturate a tube of hot water with a teabag with black and brown mustard seeds. You will find a great relief soon. 9. You can also suck a little salt to get relief, too. 10. Pineapple has proved to be a great natural remedy in muscle cramps problems. It contains bromelain, an enzyme that helps at the repair of the injured tissue. 11. Essential oils as rosemary and ginger are often used in massages because they have the property to stimulate circulation and to relieve the stiffness and the pain provoked by cramps.
