Get Your But Out of the Way

I feel pretty safe in saying that at one time or another we have all had a dream. I am not talking about the dreams you have had while sleeping. I am talking about a strongly desired purpose or vision for yourself. You know the dream of owning your own business, running a marathon, getting that promotion, traveling the world. These are the songs of your soul that keep playing until you finally recognize the words. nnYou start to sing the words with excitement and passion as you begin to embrace your dream. This feels great! The ideas are coming quickly; the joy is almost overwhelming as you begin to figure out a way to record this song so that everyone can hear. Then, your but gets in the way. The sound of static is getting louder and louder and now all you can hear is:nn- But I do not have enough moneyn- But I do not have enough timen- But I do not know if I can do itn- But I do not know enough about itnnThis is not the song that you had in mind. nnI am here to encourage you to get your but out of the way. Recognize these lines for what they are and that is excuses. If I asked you how much money you need to reach your dream, you would probably say “I don’t know, but I know I don’t have enough”. Don’t give up on your dreams because of your but. Change these negative, limiting lines to more positive empowering ones.nn- I will figure out how much money I need and find itn- I will make the timen- I will do my best and surprise myselfn- I will ask for help and learn what I need to knownnThese are the lines that will move you forward. Don’t let your limiting beliefs sabotage your dreams before you even begin to reach them. nnRemember that it is your song to write.
