We all have dreams and goals that we aspire to accomplish. Often times those dreams fade in to the distant past, never coming to be. It doesn’t have to be that way. Don’t let your dreams be part of the past We are responsible for making our own goals come to life. Most things in life don’t just happen without a little help. This time the person helping will be you! Get motivated! It is easier than you think. Following a few easy steps can guide you into a reality. There is one huge difference between people who accomplish their goals and people who do not. People who have accomplished their goals have discovered the main ingredient: motivation! If you have motivation then you can accomplish just about anything! How to get motivated Becoming motivated is easy! Think about something that you have longed to do, but has always seemed just beyond your reach. Most of us don’t have to think too long before we know what that one thing is. Perhaps it’s going back to school or career that you have always wanted to do, but just didn’t know where to begin. Maybe it’s that dream vacation that you have always wanted to take, but time and money problems never allowed it to happen. It could be that you have always struggled with your weight and want to lose some extra weight. Whatever it is, you can make it happen. Once you know what the goal is that you wish to accomplish it becomes very easy to become motivated because it is something that you want so much. Have a plan The next step to accomplishing any goal is to have a plan. This means to think about what it will take to accomplish the goal. Thinking about more than the big picture will help you to come up with a good plan. By making a plan to complete your goal, you will know exactly what you need to do each step of the way! Step by step Break the goal into steps. If the goal is to lose weight, don’t put the goal as losing 25 pounds. Begin with how you will need to do that. Exercising three times a week, eating healthier, etc. Also break the amount of weight that you want to lose into smaller amounts first. Instead of looking at the bigger number, put the first goal as losing 10 pounds. The benefit to doing this is that you will feel a sense of accomplishment earlier which gives you further motivation to get to the final goal! Write down your progress Keep track of your progress. Write down each step that will lead you up to your goal. Once you have completed that task cross it out and move on to the next step. This will not only keep you on track with what you need to do, but will also give you a sense of accomplishment! Celebrate Celebrate your progress. Each time that you reach a milestone you should give yourself credit where credit is due! Goals take a lot of hard work to accomplish and you deserve a pat on the back for your hard work. If the goal was to further your education, why not celebrate each class that you complete. After all, with each step that is completed it brings you that much closer to the goal! Keep your spirits up Don’t get discouraged. There will be ups and downs during any attempt to accomplish a particular goal. If the goal was to lose weight and you treated yourself to a special treat that was not part of your diet plan, don’t sweat it! Everyone deserves a special treat now and again. One bump in the road doesn’t have to detract from the entire goal. Continuous positive thinking will only serve to accomplish your goal, while negative thinking can get you completely off track. Don’t lose sight of what the final goal is. It takes time to accomplish your goals Remember, no goals get accomplished overnight. Any goal worth doing is going to take time, motivation and patience. In the end the time it takes will be well worth it! Good luck on accomplishing your goals! I know you can do it, get started today!
