Every Indian state is unique, with it own culture and cuisines, natural beauty and festivals, rituals and geopolitical dimensions. That's what makes the country so unique.
Take for instance Gujarat. The state in the western fringes of Indian Peninsula, the sixth largest of its kind in the country, has always been one of those 'must-visit destinations' during India tours.
Ahmedabad
This century-old city was the capital of Gujarat for 10 years since the inception of the state in 1960 before Gandhinagar became the capital of the state in the year 1970.
Ahmedabad is one of the oldest cities in India and is home to some of the most prolific examples of Indo-Islamic architectures. In fact, the culture and heritage attached to the city were enough for UNESCO to call it a World Heritage City in 2017.
Gandhinagar
It has been the state capital and one of the best-planned cities of the entire subcontinent. The city is located by the banks of the Sabarmati River in the north-central east of the state.
The main places of tourist attractions in and around the city include the majestic Akshardham temple, Sarita Garden, Indroda Dinosaur and Fossil Park, Velavadar Blackbuck National Park, the Mosque of Queen Roopmati, and the likes.
The Kutch Region
Visit to Gujarat is left unfinished without a visit to the Kutch region. The region is regarded as the 'Wild West" of India. The entire stretch of land alte ates between extreme dry during most of the times of the year, and wet and humid during monsoon.
The place is famous for seasonal wetlands, and the sanctuary of wild ass and the area has always been a highlight of every Gujarat tour package, offered by the tour and travel companies around the world.
Other places of attraction in the region include the historic Bhuj, the port town of Mandvi, the Dholavira ruins of the Indus Valley Civilisation.
Dwarka
This is another significant tourist attraction of Gujarat. Located at the point of convergence of Gomti river with the Arabian Sea, this ancient city is believed to be the home of Lord Krishna, the mythological character mentioned in the famous Indian epic, The Mahabharata.
Other places of interest include the Marine National Park, Gir National Park, Junagadh, Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, Shatrunjaya Hill Temples, Palitana, Saputara.
Handicrafts and cuisines
There are no Gujarat holiday packages, which do not feature Gujarati cuisines and the handicrafts. Visiting the local shops that sell handicrafts and the street food outlets of the cities is an absolute must!
Hence, when it comes to visiting India and enjoying its grandeur, visiting the majestic state of Gujarat is imperative. It will enrich the tourist with some unforgettable experience.
