I have friends with loads and heaps of stuff. However, when they need that paper they wrote or that blue scarf that appears to be missing they know exactly where to find it. Hard for me to imagine loads of buckets in a room or a closet filled with purses, shoes, hats, accessories, etc, bathrooms with no counter space but I respect that each person has there own harmonious zone for their stuff. Is organization attached to our mind space? I think it is. My father is one of those people with loads of papers on his desk. My Mother got them “all organized” with bins and filing systems. He promised to keep it neat and tidy. It’s a mess again, but don’t tell him that, he knows exactly where everything is. rnHe works well that way for him, he is happy in his space. rnMy oldest sister’s house is like a page from Architectural Digest. Not one thing out of order and she has to mop the floors before going to bed. It works well for her, she is happy with her space. Two extremes and of course there are loads in the middle as we know. rnI use to believe in the less is more philosophy, but then I met this woman who had whatever anyone needed in her magical purse. “Does anyone have an aspirin, bandage, dictionary, tweezers, super glue, cookie”. It did not matter she had it in that purse. I did not know her well enough to ask her what more she had in there, but her service to the others around her is amazing. I have a neighbor with a magical garage, whatever anyone needs; he can lend it from his magical garage. rnIt felt good to drop off boxes of goodies to the Goodwill recently. Can’t say I am a true minimalist, I have a toddler and with that comes “stuff”, but I really don’t keep many extras around. There is an echo in my bedroom due to the lack of items in that space. I like it that way, it serves me well. rnAs long as your head is clear and you can find your stuff, you’re in good shape in my opinion. rnIf you need some tips, maybe these will help: 1. If you or someone else has not used a product or piece of clothing for a year – donate it. rn2. Make sure in the midst of shopping, you don't purchase items that are not really needed. rn3. If you share your environment with another person, make sure it is harmonious for both of you. rn4. Use clear bins for organization so you can see what is in them, especially if you are not going to label them! rn5. It is good to stock up on goods when they are on sale, but don’t overstock! The universe is abundant and so are you, only stock what you can effortlessly store. rn6. When you start to feel cluttered, organize your space. rnNothing feels as good as harmony in your space!rnRenay Matthewsrnwww.organicspaces.blogspot.com
