Ensuring you are adequately hydrated, avoiding forced air heat and cigarette smoke and taking an effective multi-vitamin are just some things that you can do to help maintain a healthy immune system and prevent bronchitis occurring in the first place.nnIf bronchitis does occur, avoid over the counter medications that dry coughs. This suppresses the coughing action which is a natural response of the body to remove phlegm. Instead sooth the throat and lungs by inhaling an antiseptic enriched vapour. To achieve this add 4-5 drops of either eucalyptus oil, or Melaleuca (tea-tree) oil to a steaming bowl of water. Use a towel to cover your head while over the bowl and breathe deeply. Add 1-2 drops of the chosen oil every five minutes and continue this process for a total of 20 minutes; once in the morning and once in the evening.nnIt is also advised to have 3-4 cups of rosehip and lemon tea daily. You can enrich the tea and make more effective by simply adding an herbal combination of Ginger and Garlic. Continuing to consume this tea for 3-4 week after all the symptoms have been relieved will significantly improve your immunity to bronchitis.nnThere are a number of herbal bronchitis treatments that come from making tea from particular herbs. One such herb is creosote bush which is used to treat a variety of respiratory problems, particularly bronchitis. Pleurisy root tea is commonly used and extremely effective in the removal of phlegm and tea made from coltsfoot has been known to help suppress spasms in the bronchus.nnWhile it may sound odd, vegetable oil is one of the most effective natural bronchitis treatments available. By massaging vegetable oil into the back and chest, you can assist in breaking up congestion in the lungs.nnIncreasing your intake of Vitamin A and C will reduce the inflammation in the bronchial tubes. Vitamin A and be found in sweet potatoes, carrot and spinach, while vitamin C is most prominent in tomato juice, grapefruit juice and kiwi fruit.nnBy following the above herbal bronchitis treatment plan, you will soon be rid of bronchitis and associated symptoms. Best of all, there are no side effects attached to any of the above treatments, unlike most "medications" that your doctor would prescribe.
