If a page lacks descriptive text, there is little chance search engines will pick it up. Visitors are also put off when they can't quickly figure out what the site is offering.
It's also good to figure out the keywords that your prospects and clients use to find a site like yours. Then pack those keywords into your text as much as you logically can. "Search engine tactics change all the time," say's joel. "Many software companies have solutions for search engine positioning.
Advertising, the main key ingredient for success, without good advertising you are wasting your time. Be sure to write an very good, but short ad with a headline that grabs the publics attention. Also, after you get their response, don't stop there, Joel has found out that it takes anywhere from 3-7 follow up letters to really get their attention.
Automate your advertising, Joel uses an autoresponder that sends up to 7 follow up emails reminding his potential customers about his business. Autoresonder make marketing so much easier and they are very low cost and alot of them are free.
And one major mistake is not having a secure order form. People are skeptical about ordering anythng online,but a secure order form will help drastically and boost your sales many times over.
