The excitement of being asked to be a best man can soon turn to shock and horror as you realize you will have to make a speech - in front of hundreds of people. The second thing you want to avoid is distasteful jokes. What's funny between you and your friends is probably not funny to a wedding party. Be very careful with jokes. Try and keep it real and never go below the belt because your audience is likely to be a bit older. Lastly, make sure you prepare something. Don't just think that y can do an impromptu speech as even really good public speakers can't really pull it off.
