Low-cut, Cut-offs, and Cutting Edge should be cut out of your interview dress. nn50% of hiring managers say dressing inappropriately is the biggest mistake.nBusiness dress works even if the company does business casual normally.  It shows respect.  Remember you can always take your jacket or your tie off but you can't put it on in an interview. n n2. Bringing your parents to the interview or to negotiate your salary.n nSome Millenniums think it's OK or their parents do to show up at the interview according to a recruiter for a Fortune 500 company I spoke to.n nIt's not!  No family members, friends or pets. n n3. Get there on time AND on the right day.  n nYou start with a disadvantage if you are there late however creative or true your excuse. n nI arrived a week early for a meeting luckily it wasn't a week late!n n4. Lyingn nI interviewed a British man for a job when I worked in Japan.  He told me that he went to Poole University.  Trouble is that there is no Poole University.  Unlucky him to meet a fellow Brit that day!n n5. Draman nInterviewers don't want to hear about the antics of your bad boss, how the company was collapsing where you worked, or the terrible family life which resulted in you moving from Montana to NY.  They want to know you can do the job and you are not going to cause any trouble.  Drama is best kept for Prime TV or Broadway.n n6.
