The most important thing we can do in life is to set goals that will propel us forward. People should define and refine their goals to reflect the changing realities of their lives. Goals lead us in the right direction for achievement and one must know how to set goals that shape their life. Most people do not know how to set goals and they keep on failing to achieve their goals. Setting goals in life and achieving those set goals are two different things. You must bring them together in order to effectively progress in life. One of the best ways to define and achieve your goals in to start small and progress. You can set achievable goals by using the S.M.A.R.T acronym defined in this article. “S” stands for Specific. Your goals must not be vague; you should make your goals as specific as they can be. For example a goal “to lose weight in a couple of months” would be too vague, You must have a specific number you want to lose and a specific date of accomplishing the goal. “M” stands for Measurable. Establish measurements for progress toward the attainment of each goal you set. Having a measure for your progress keeps you on track to reaching your target dates; each target reach gives you more incentive and exhilaration to go on until completion. You can break the goals into weeks, months even years and just keep records of what was achieve this week, this month until you complete your full goal. “A” stands for Attainable. Are you capable of achieving your set goals? Are these goals attainable in the foreseeable future? One thing that leads to the failure of most people to achieve their goals is that they set goals that are not attainable in the allotted time frame. Goals are made to be achieved in a certain time period. Set attainable goals that can be achieved before moving on to greater goals. Start small and grow from there. “R” stands for Realistic. Are your goals realistic? Is this something that you truly believe that can happen or you just daydreaming? For example you can’t say you want to be the number 1 pop singer in the country if you have never cut an album, can’t sing or not even in that type of industry to even begin with. “T” stands for Time Sensitive. Anything we do in life is time sensitive and so are your goals. Set goals must be achieved in a specified period of time. If your goals are not time sensitive, then you have no motivation to achieve them. rnUse the S.M.A.R.T concept above to define your goals. Take each representation of the acronym seriously and you’ll begin to observe positive changes in your life due to the achievement of your goals. rnGet Bobson St. Pierre's ebook here http://www.becomesuccessfulnow.com
