“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.” – Mother Teresa

The spoken language is indeed the most impactful and effective ways to communicate. For thousands of years, humans have used sounds to express their thoughts, and over time those sounds grew into the words we use today. Wise people say that words are mightier than a sword and have the power to bring about the change. While positive words can revolutionize the way one thinks and impact the surroundings, harsh words and negative language can tarnish the ambiance of harmony.

Experts believe that positive language is indeed powerful in changing the perceptions of young minds and can be effective in instilling in them the skills of optimism and self-belief. The positive frame of mind also gets reflected in how the person reacts to varied situations, which itself has a lot of value in deciding the success or failure in any task. This is why we, at Gurukul The School, one among the top 10 Schools in Ghaziabad, strongly believe that children should be trained on a positive mindset and should be taught the power of positive language for ensuring their success in whatever endeavors they undertake. On that note, we are sharing with you in this article today some easy tips that you can adopt to inculcate in your kids the practice of sticking to positive language.

Model positivity whenever you communicate with your child

Teaching becomes easier when you practice the instructions yourself instead of mere preaching. If you want your child to talk positively, abstain from using negative words yourself. For instance, if you want to tell your child not to run around inside the house, do not yell at the child and instruct in a negative tone, like “I don’t want you to keep on running around. It is creating a problem for me!” Instead, it would be more appropriate if you choose a humbler version like, “I would highly appreciate it if you would walk inside the house rather than running. This will help me a lot.” Kinder words always make more impact and possess the power to appease even the most restless minds.

Do not lose patience, no matter the situatio

Yes, we understand that children are best at testing your patience, especially when they turn into their tantrum-throwing selves. But then, that is the key challenge of being a parent. Isn’t it! Thus, no matter how many questions your child asks in a day or how many times the kid repeats the same mistake, you need to remain calm and patient. If you lose your patience and showcase outrageous behavior to your kids, you won’t be able to teach the kids to use positive language either, and that wouldn’t be the fault of the child.

When you grow impatient, you tend to use unkind words, and once the words are spoken, there is no way you can take them back. Words are like arrows that once leave the bow hit the target regardless of your repentance for having thrown the arrow at all. Hence, think twice before using harsh words to your kids as they might be picking up the same language and gesture from you to behave irrationally in the long run.

We understand that teaching the kids to adopt positive language takes a lot of efforts on the parents’ part, and that especially holds true when children are home all the time owing to the ongoing pandemic. But we are certain that the output of putting in all these efforts will definitely help to carve the little ones into better human beings and successful individuals. In the process, you will be creating positive speakers having immense value and respect for everyone, and who wouldn’t want their children to grow into individuals with such traits!
