It is really annoying waking up in the morning and having to go to work when in reality what you really want to do is go back to bed. This groggy feeling can be fixed over time, but you need to follow some real advice if you want to make a big change. Also, it is not simply because you are not getting enough sleep (though that could be a contributing factor). Really, this grogginess stems from a variety of lifestyle choices. Once I identify to you what aspects you could pay more attention to, waking up feeling refreshed each morning will be much more doable. Let's get into it. First if you want to get up earlier, you need to make the decision in your mind to do so. No half measures. No thinking about how it would be nice to get up, but then never do. You need to make a decision with yourself that everyday you want to get up by X. Then experiment with the best diet, workout, and bed time that works for you. The next step is to look at your diet. As I just said, what you eat and how well you sleep are linked together. Too many people have horrible diets with lots of additives and processed junk. It tends to be light on the vegetables and fruit, and heavy on the dairy and sugar. If you find yourself sluggish, perhaps it is in part of what you are eating. Next up, make it a point to eat lightly at night. Perhaps even nothing at all. After dinner, I have a cup of tea and maybe a piece of fruit, but that is it (most of the time, sometimes I cheat like anyone else). If you need to snack on something, try something that is low in sugar. For dinner, stick to organic as much as possible. The less processed the meal is, the less energy it will take to digest, and the less it will disrupt your individual physiology. Next, look at how much physical activity you get. You should be exercising daily. If you are not, you need to start exercising daily before you worry about getting up earlier. People were not meant to sit for 8 hours a day. We were meant to move around and do things. Get up and get out. You do not need to spend a lot on exercising. Really, if you are going to spend on anything it should be high quality food to eat on a regular basis. The last step is to wake up at the same time everyday. I get up between 6:20 and 6:45 am everyday. Most of us notice this, but your body will begin to just start naturally waking up at a given time. If you are reading this, then more than likely you are waking up because you have to, not because you want to. To change this follow the above advice, and also remember the last part. Go to bed only when you are sleepy. If you have a lot of lights on this tricks the mind into thinking it is still day time. Spend the evening in a quite and dark manner. When you find yourself sleepy, go to bed. Don't force yourself to stay up, then force yourself to get up. That is not how it is meant to work.
