Hypnotherapy for lasting weight loss and a healthy relationship with food & exercise
Hypnotherapy can help you to lose weight and get the body you desire without any side effects or invasive procedures. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state which is similar to daydreaming and meditation. When you are in hypnosis, your conscious mind takes a back seat which allows direct access to the thoughts held within your unconscious. Hypnotherapy can then be used in a variety of ways to ensure you lose weight in a healthy appropriate manner by addressing the following issues and resolving them:
1.Psychological/emotional eating. This can develop through a number of ways in our early years or following emotional events in our lives. When we are young, we learn to associate lots of food, especially junk food, with happy times such as birthdays, parties and Christmas. If our unconscious makes the link between the happiness and food, we may in later life try to recreate the happy feelings by turning to food. This results in comfort eating, overindulgence, drinking excessively and sometimes binge eating. Hypnotherapy can find out which of these unhelpful associations have been made and help to get rid of them and replace these negative habits with useful weight reducing, healthy ones.
2.Portion control & bad eating habits. Many people will recognise phrases such as, ' Finish your plate or there's no dessert!' or 'Think of the poor starving children!'. All of these sayings can contribute to an unhealthy relationship with food. Clearing your plate past the point of fullness means you are beginning down the road where you ignore fullness signals from your body, This leaves you with a poor awareness of when you are actually hungry or full. Hypnotherapy can re-establish the link between your mind and your body allowing you to eat when you are hungry, listen to your body and stop when you are full.
3.Cravings. Hypnosis and some NLP techniques can be extremely effective at reducing cravings by associating high calorie cravings with negative images, thoughts, smells & tastes.
4.Lack of motivation to exercise. If you lose weight by dieting alone you will lose body mass but if you exercise as well you will lose body fat which means you are more likely to keep the weight off & stay at your ideal weight. Hypnotherapy can help increase motivation to begin and stick to a daily exercise plan so that you can enjoy staying at your ideal weight forever.
5.Limiting beliefs. If you think like you're overweight and continually tell yourself that you are, your body will respond accordingly and keep you overweight. These negative thoughts will make your life miserable and this can perpetuate the emotional eating cycle. Think about what thoughts you may have when trying on clothes or looking in the mirror. If you say negative things to yourself you will feel even worse. Hypnotherapy can help identify these limiting beliefs and help you begin the process of learning to love and appreciate your body again. This in turn will help you break the emotional eating cycle and motivate you to stick to a healthy way of life.
These are just a few of the issues that can have a negative effect on our relationship with food & exercise. If you want help losing weight in a healthy, natural manner that will work and keep the weight off, Hypnotherapy could be the answer you've been looking for.
