My name is Kelly and I am an instructor in Buffalo/Amherst,in NY. I took a leap in faith in the benefits of Infant Massage and opened my own studio where we center classes around the bonding of parents and babies. With baby-parent cardio, yoga, and of course infant massage. I have been in contact with parents in many different situations. My husband and I have are retired theraputic foster parents, I work full time at the ER/Trauma Center in Buffalo, and we have 4 beautiful children of our own that are 17, 10, 8 and 4.
There are so many opportunities we are given to really enjoy and soak up life, and it's amazing moments like these that I have the chance to be a part of with my clients. The moment that parent and baby make eye contact and without a word, both embrace the invisible line of love and appreciation, is one of the most beautiful sites you will ever see in you life. And it's something as simple as touch that enhances this bond, and that I teach my clients how to both grasp the tools of massage themselves, and also pass on these benefits on to caregivers and the next generation is such a gift to me also.
At my job in the ER, I have felt both pain and joy, and both of those emotions teach me to appreciate life.
In my classes, I get to be witness to an attachment and admiration between parent and baby that simplifies life, and makes everything around them in that moment non-existent. And I truly believe that everyone needs to be part of this.
The benefit listings for physical relief both for babies and the caregiver giving the massage is an obvious reason to enjoy the program. But making my parents stop and relax is a talent not many of us have over these insanely scheduled caregivers, but with this program, they can convince themselves that the benefits are worth it for them, and their baby, for as little as 15 minutes a day. And as my Grandmother used to say, all you need is 15 minutes a day to reboot your senses.
For the cynical, all you have to do is remember a time when you felt your most vulnerable, thats when you crave a loving touch from someone who cares, a hand on your shoulder, an amazing hug, a hand in yours, well, babies and childen with special needs are in that state most of their day, everyday. And all it takes is something as simple as touch to help both the caregiver and the child gain trust, confidence. This is something that toys, and stationary seats that impersonate the caregiver by swaying, vibrating, recording their voices, try to but will never accomplish what a caregiver's touch does.
Please, allow yourself as a parent or caregiver a chance to be blessed with giving touch,it is the easiest thing you will ever earn in your life, and the most rewarding.
