The topic of kidney stones is one that I can readily identify with as I have suffered from this condition for over 10 years. The pain that is experienced during an attack is excruciating and can get to the point where it is unbearable . Drinking water may help, but it does not help you to endure the pain. Kidney stones are a common problem that affect many people throughout our world . This condition is known as the most painful disorder that you can experience in your urinary tract and I can completely agree with it. It is estimated that there are around 3 million people who frequent hospitals or emergency rooms to be checked for this condition and 1/3 of these people will have to have surgery because of this illness. Anyone can develop this condition, but those people with medical illnesses such as high blood pressure, gout, cystinuria, renal tubular acidosis, diabetes and other health conditions face a higher risk of developing stones in their kidneys. There are also some medications that increase the risk. There are warning signs or symptoms of kidney stones that you should be aware of in case you believe that you or someone you know may be experiencing this illness. They include severe pain in the lower back, abdomen and groin area and there is not much of a break from the pain. This pain has been compared to labor pains and having experienced it many times myself, I can agree. The pain can be so intense that it can cause you to experience vomiting and dizziness. You can also have the urge to urinate frequently and sometimes you can notice blood in your urine. In some cases, there are times when kidney stones do not show off any signs and they are known as silent stones. If you are having any difficulty at all urinating, you should be checked by your doctor. There are several treatments available for kidney stones, so surgery is not always necessary. One such treatment involves using sound waves to break up the stones and this is referred to as lithotripsy. This helps to break up the large kidney stones into smaller pieces which in turn makes it easier for you to pass them out of your body. You may require more than treatment depending on the size and amount of stones that you have. Other treatments offered are those that are of natural and organic forms and they are nonabrasive and offer other health benefits. Examples of these include home remedies for kidney stones that include drinking plenty of water which has been proven to help stones pass easier and drinking coconut or lemon juice. One of the most popular drinks that offer relief from kidney stones is cranberry juice and doctors are advising their patients to drink plenty of this to help them recover. Detoxification is another natural way to treat your kidney stones as this cleanses your body from the inside. This correlates with what you eat and it may cause you to modify your diet. Another way that you can clean your body is to incorporate herbs in your food and drinks that will help to keep your body clean. Some of these are deuretical herbs such as buchu, dandelion and couch grass. Make sure to avoid alcohol and do not drink coffee as these drinks contain chemicals that can irritate you kidneys and make your condition worse. Your kidney stones not only affect you, but they also affect your loved ones as they worry about your condition and this adds more stress to their lives. Aside from the pain relief, this is the most important reason why you should do everything in your power to seek the best treatments available and to take the best care of your body that you can.
