Inner peace is a deep feeling that comes from the heart. It is an inner knowing that no matter what happens in your life you can handle it and maintain a peaceful and happy state of mind. It comes from knowing that you are never alone and that there is a power greater than you; a power you can tap into at anytime and receive the help and guidance you need.

The question most people wonder about is – How can I obtain and maintain inner peace? The solution lies not in obtaining inner peace, but in setting free that place inside you where inner peace resides. This is the place where love and God and goodness reign.

This is not necessarily an easy task. We are conditioned to believe in lack and limitation at an early age. We are conditioned to believe that peace and happiness come from winning, outdoing others around us, and obtaining more and more material things. These are all exte
al activities. You cannot find inner peace exte
ally. It must come from within.

Inner peace is achieved one moment at a time. For just this moment reflect on what is good in your life right now. For just this moment practice believing that you are not alone, and that Divine Guidance is within your reach. Take a few deep breaths. Relax. Let go and silently tell yourself “peace, tranquility, and serenity are mine here and now”. Continue breathing deeply and relaxing while you are doing this. Practice doing this for a few minutes several times a day or anytime you feel tensed or stressed.

Other phrases you might try to repeat are “Be still and know that I am God”, “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want”, or any phrase from your religious background that gives you hope and encouragement. If you choose to use a more generic or universal approach you can use phrases such as “Divine Power is now flowing through me and filling me with peace and happiness” or “Divine Intelligence now guides me to my place of inner peace and happiness”.

As you practice doing this you will find yourself getting calmer and calmer. You will find yourself needing the good opinion of others less and less. In this place of peace and calm you will be able to sense God’s presence and you will come to know that feeling of safety where you are loved and protected always. Since you will know you are never alone you will find yourself eliminating fear and doubt from your life. The fear of the unknown will no longer create stress and anguish in your life.

As with any spiritual journey this transformation will probably not occur over night. It will occur over time and most likely in subtle ways that you will not notice. How long this will take for you will depend on where you are in your spiritual journey and your commitment to your self-development. I pray that you keep the faith and that you don’t give up because I know there are good things in store for you. You need to just go forth and claim them. You can do it!
