Jump Before Pushed

It's 7.30 in the morning and I'm sitting at home listening to the radio. Job losses, credit crunch, home repossessions, new twists on the same old theme.nnBefore I get dragged into this mire, this stinking, sinking-sand, let me shout from the embankment - 'This is the biggest opportunity we’ve had in decades!'nnHuman beings are still human beings. We still need to eat, strive, grow, travel, entertain, reproduce, create. nWhile were busy looking at what is shrinking we are missing what needs to grow. If we turn our attention to what is required and desired we will see masses of opportunity.nnExample: Massive swathes of our planet hold the potential to harness power. The baking and punishing deserts have been home to the richest harvests of oil for the Saudi nations. These areas could have been abandoned or neglected had it not been for the inventive and positive potentiality that scientists and geologists embraced (and in doing so transformed the wealth of a nation.) nn In Africa the same scorching plains are the sight of despair and hunger. Why not harness the same inventive and positive potentiality and harvest the heat of these vast 'ovens' to create emission free power? It’s on tap!nnShops are closing. How many more outlets selling the same overproduced goods do we need? I'm not surprised! Why not channel some of the talents and potential of those who worked in the retail sector to providing dignified and creative support for our elders? Our young? Our neglected neighbourhoods?nnWhat do we need? More cars? More coffee shops? More banks?nThe world is crying out for cheaper and better quality food, improved transport services, affordable housing, creative mentors, inspiring visionaries, medical advances.nWe need new Shakespeares’, Newtons’, Ghandis’, Darwins’, Bransons’.nnWe need new nurses, doctors, teachers, community leaders, architects, carers, scientists, pioneers, mavericks, thinkers.nThe vacancy list is ENORMOUS.nnWe need new ideas, visions, projects, breakthroughs, resourcefulness.nnWe need new leaders, scientists, cyber heads, champions.nnWe need new priorities, adaptability, flexibility, optimismnnThere is no shortage of opportunity only a shortage of sight.nnFor the first time in their lives some people are having to consider their future. Good! Consider it well. Consider what’s inspiring to you, what brings you alive and the community and world in which you inhabit. Consider whether what you were doing was worth clinging onto anyway...was it that good?nnConsider away and in doing so recreate yourself, recreate your world, recreate your experience of life.nnWhether we like it or not the world is shifting in major ways.nJump before you get pushed.nnTake a step into a future that while new and unknown is also inspiring, enlivening and vital.nnwww.darrenbrady.com
