Acne Vulgaris

Etiological factors:
Oil based cosmetics
Secondary infection- post antibiotics
Birth Control Pills
Stress and fatigue

Drug induced:
Steroids, halogens, anticonvulsants, lithium, Vit B 12, isonictinic acid, LSD, amphetamines, Fluorides (esp. if around thenmouth)
Over-washing and repetitive rubbing
Aggravated by cod liver oil

Therapeutics-Diet:

Avoid: dairy, chocolate, nuts, cola drinks, fats, seafoods and baked goods - contains iodides, alcohol, sugar, additives, kelp, iodized salt, high carbohydrates Increase: protein, nutritional yeast, fiber.

Supplements:nnbeta-carotene: 250,000 IU/day for 2-3 monthsnzinc: 50 mg twice a day (avoid tetracyclines) 3 monthsncopper: 2 mg at opposite end of day from zinc
If associated with PMS:
Vitamin B6 - 50-100 mg, 3X Daily
B complex-50 mg in AMnVit C - 1 gm / 2XdaynVit E - 400 IU daily
Selenium - 200 mcg / 2day

Echinacea
Red Clover Tea
Phytolacca(Poke Root)
Mentha piperita(Peppermint)
Arctium lappa(Burdock)
Carrot poultice
Clay mask

Hydrotherapy:
