Diodes are at the heart of lipo laser machines. The power that these machines require in order to perform non-surgical liposuction is generated in the diodes. This applies both for the traditional lipo laser as well as the modern day lipo LED machines. LED, in fact, stands for light emitting diodes. These diodes emit the light that penetrates deep inside the skin of the users and melt their fat away. Manufacturing: The diodes get made all over the world. The companies in the USA import the diodes when they make the machine. In case of machines that are imported from outside, diodes come as already-assembled parts of the machines. German diodes are world-famous for their excellent quality and lifespan. They are accurate in terms of delivering the promised laser wavelength. The same can be said about Japanese diodes also. Dilas from Germany and Mitsubishi from Japan are two of the leading manufacturers of diodes for lipo laser and lipo LED machines. Chinese manufacturers also manufacture diodes for the lipo lasers but their quality in general are not up to the mark at the time of writing this. The same can be said about most Taiwan-based companies as well. Energy: As far as the energy (and thus the wavelength) generated by these diodes is conce ed, it is necessary to be in appropriate zones. The first generation lipo lasers have diodes at 20-40 mW, which comes down to 10-20 mW in the second generation and hits as low as 5-10 mW per diode in the third generation. Thus, the third generation diodes are extremely effective, as they achieve great results with lot energy expenditure. Wavelength: The first generation laser lipo machines had wavelength of 670 nm or higher, for the laser emission generated from the diodes. The second generation brought it down to 650-660 nm. In the third generation, which is the most modern among the lot, the wavelength is as low as 635-640 nm. The wavelength thus has kept coming down, making the units more powerful with each generation. All this is driven by diodes. Lifespan of diodes: This is a key question. The German and Japanese diodes tend to last the longest in the lot. Ideally, the first generation lipo laser machines would have diodes lasting around 2,000-4,000 hours of total use. In the second generation, this has been around 5,000-7,000 hours. And in the modern third generation, it is as high as about 10,000 hours. Fluence: One of the most misunderstood terms in buying lipo lasers is fluence. Note that the fluence of a machine will not determine how powerful it is. The fluence will determine how much body surface area the laser lipo (or LED) machine can cover at once. The energy per unit area depends upon the wavelength generated by the diodes (inverse relationship – smaller wavelength is higher energy per unit area). And fluence (along with the packing density of the diodes on the pads or paddles of the lipo laser machines) determines how much will be covered together (the total area). As one can clearly see, understanding about diodes is essential to get a good-quality lipo laser or lipo LED machine. Also, if you are looking to buy a lipo laser machine, or understand more about these machines, taking the quiz on my site will help significantly (link given below).
