Lets face it, tummy fat is ugly. In a world where every magazine cover is graced by a Angelina Jolie or a Jesssica Alba, it is hard to ignore just how incredibly attractive a flat sexy stomach really is. The problem is that belly fat has become one of the biggest problems for anyone with weight problems. To lose tummy fat you have to first look at how you got it. The short answer is a lack of exercise and the wrong diet, but we all know that. The long answer is will hopefully shed a bit more light on why you got it in the first place. When you eat more calories than you burn, you body stores the excess as fat. Fat is stored all over the body and a certain amount of fat is absolutely necessary as part of a healthy body. We all store fat in different ways, but the abdominal area is one of the main fat storage facilities in the body. Hence, excess fat accumulates and soon you develop a fat belly. But eating too much is only part of the problem. The main problem is with the quality of food you eat. Foods that are high in saturated fat and other chemicals like colorants, preservatives and flavoring is treated as toxins. Your body responds to this by enveloping it in fat and storing it in your body - most likely your belly area. Our modern diets are laced with these chemicals and foods with high sugar, salt and fat contents fill our restaurants and shopping aisles. The main problem with this is the fact that these foods are designed to make us feel good when we eat them. It is this emotional connection to food that's the real killer. So, here's the unusual tip to lose tummy fat: stop treating food as a way to feel good. Food is not there to get feelings from. Instead, adopt other ways to feel good. As long as you are an emotional eater you will never lose weight.
