The power of memory has always intrigued common people and physicians alike. That is why scientists have spent their time and energy to discover ways to improve memory. In fact, we the average human beings too are quite eager to understand the processes that can help us keep our memory in good shape. The methods that can help in memory improvement are varied in nature, but most of them are quite easy to follow. · Chunking This is a technique that is used quite commonly to improve memory. Here you will need to create chunks or groups of the information or data that you have got. This helps in remembering long numbers, especially telephone or mobile phone numbers. In fact, it can also be used to memorize words. For an example the word "memorize" can become memorize. · Bed Time Story We all have heard bed time stories in our childhood. Believe it or not, this style of story-telling does improve memory. Even if you have grown up, you can seek refuge to this exercise. Just read or recite something important before going to sleep. The brain will stack it neatly in its compartment. · Pleasant Associations Association is a must in order to make the memory work in a more efficient way. But rather than associating a piece of information with something unpleasant, it will be more effective if you can link it with something pleasant. It is learned that our brain generally shuts out unpleasant memories. · Loci This refers to associating a known location with some data that you are supposed to memorize. It was quite popular in ancient Greece. The location can be anything that you frequently visit. It could be a bus stop or a tube station. · Work Out All work and no play makes your brain a dull organ. Jog, do freehand exercises or join a gym. When it comes to keeping yourself fit, you should not think twice. Physical activities will increase the oxygen flow to the brain cells. · Stay Free from Depression Depression and good memory are not close friends. Your depressions can adversely affect your brain cells. So, don't hesitate to see a doctor if the need arises. You will not need to know rocket science to improve your memory. Rather, you just need to make a few simple permutation and combination in your lifestyle to achieve your objective.
