A little over six years ago I used to spend my days trying to feed a $200+ per day cocaine and alcohol habit. Then on June 1st, 1994 I left my old life of alcohol and addiction behind and anyone can do the same. Here is the process I used.
1). Since I was dealing with a medical as well as a moral and psychological problem I first sought out medical help. Actually the doctor sought me out. After two near death visits to the emergency room my doctor called me in for a check up. At this point in time I admitted I had a serious problem. Can you admit you have a serious problem and want to change?
2). I decided everything about my old drug addicted lifesyle had to change. I quick hanging around with anyone connected with drugs or alcohol. I would only go into my old neighborhoods for sober related functions, such as treatment or AA meetings. Other than that I avoided the old neighborhoods like the plague that they were.
3). I designed my new lifestyle around people who had what I wanted: sobriety, success and happiness. Most self help books will tell you that you become what you think about. You also become the type of person that you associate with. One questio
I learned to ask early on in my new drug free life was, "How did you do it?"
4). People who have attained success will help you to do the same in most instances. By asking successful people how they did it you are getting real life success stories. You can now start to design your own new life based upon asking the simple question, "How did you do it?" Someday somebody will ask you the same question on how you built your new life.
5). By following the principles in this article and seeking out help from others you will someday be in a position where you will be the helper. If you are in the midst of an addiction or other bad habit this might be impossible to believe.
6). Just over six years ago I was telling my atto
ey that my life was virtually over. I had lost all my money, credit and friends. My health was in bad shape and my future looked even worse. Yet, by following the above principles I am now able to help people get out of the same bad situation that I once deemed impossible to escape. As I said at the start of this article, "You can do it too!" nnn
