MLM Success: Why is my group like a leaking bucket?

Does this sound familiar amongst your mlm prospects?
‘Well, I've been thinking and to be honest I’m not sure I'm cut out to be an mlm success. Is there any sort of refund?’
I've been there. My reactions varied from annoyance to pity and then settled firmly on self-reproach. Why was I banging my head against a brick wall with people who couldn’t beat their way out of a paper bag? I could have been home with my family, and should have been, probably.
For years the accepted wisdom of Multi-level or Network marketing has been that mlm success can only come if we're prepared to chase after anyone with a pulse and put our life-changing opportunity in front of them. Now I’m not saying it’s taboo to sponsor your friends and family into a networking business but it’s a lot more effective if your mlm prospects are chasing you for information rather than the other way round.
Most networkers until recently (and I’m not exempt from this myself) have persevered with this pitifully ‘analogue’ approach when the truth has been staring us in the face. Do doctors or highly paid consultants approach us in shopping malls to tout for our business? Er, no. We go to them, and we’re quite happy to pay for their advice or their medicine because – hey – they’re experts, aren’t they? We need to have people coming to us – not the other way round. People who have no interest in developing new income streams are not the great mlm prospects we thought they were and should be left in peace now.
Should I have been surprised when my downline sprung more leaks than a rusty bucket? No. People are a lot more keen on changing their circumstances than they are on changing themselves, and sadly the two come as an indivisible pair. When the initial excitement ebbed away from my world-beating new distributors they sagged like wet daffodils unless I was on the phone or in their home, draining my positivity battery to stop them flatlining. It’s true that unless new distributors (and I’m focussing on the type we ‘sell’ into our business) see virtually immediate results, the majority will wither on the vine as their vivid dreams of mlm success dissolve. So the recruitment side of mlm HAS to be automated to attract serious prospects 24/7 so that you don’t waste your time giving CPR to people who should never have signed up in the first place. We need to attract people who have ‘bought’ the mlm concept, regardless of the success they’ve had to date, and work with people who don’t hide when you ring their doorbell.
That does remind me of a time I drove 3 hours to Cheshire in the North West of England from London, to show my opportunity to one of my more credible mlm prospects - a businessman who had agreed to see me but had obviously been warned off by a friend before I got there. Arriving at 9pm, I rang the doorbell and distinctly heard the exclamation ‘Oh God!’ Nobody came to the door, although I rang twice more. He knew I’d travelled 200 miles, but I had to trudge back up his garden path and get back on the motorway. Is that ‘analogue’ enough for you?!
I am hugely grateful that two things arrived in my life almost simultaneously. Firstly an mlm business – e-lottery – that enables people to play the UK and Euro Millions lotteries at a lesser cost (even for free) plus a hugely greater chance of cash prizes. An mlm business around a product that 50% of the adult population already consume is a fantastic advantage. This is the simplest and most efficient mlm business I’ve ever seen, and gives new distributors every chance of being in profit quickly. Better still, the business is structured so that you build four legs and so can put new associates under your new, excited but wavering downline to instill belief in them and to help them play the lotteries for free, as well as earning them (and you) commissions virtually from Day One. One hopes the laws in the US will change once those idiots have been kicked out of power and American citizens will enjoy mlm success with this great opportunity too.
However, even a super-streamlined business like this would be useless if I had to rely on being a ‘shopping mall commando’. There now exists an amazing mechanism for attracting the sort of mlm prospects I used to dream about by reaching out to other networkers and supplying them with superb business-building tools on a budget. ‘Building on a Budget’ and ‘Magnetic Sponsoring’ are tools that are rewriting the 'mlm success rulebook' and condemning those primitive cringeworthy contacting ‘strategies’ to history. Now and again, when I’m in shopping malls, I get the urge to engage the security guard in conversation about his life goals. I can safely say I am resisting this urge.
There are people out there who need the tools to help them achieve mlm success - honest, hardworking people who want to recession-proof themselves by helping like-minded folks do the same. I now focus on helping 'real' mlm prospects find me and if they want a bolt-on mlm income stream then I’ve got that for them too. If they don't want my mlm – then that’s fine too. We’re all in this together, and wouldn't it be nice to make our friends and families proud rather than making them cross the street?
