Have you ever found yourself rushing to get somewhere when you have all the time in the world to get there? It's almost as if we have been programmed to move quickly under any and all circumstances.

When your body and mind are in passing gear constantly, it isn't healthy. Your blood pressure rises, your heart races and you become stressed and ready for action, whether action is required or not.

When I find myself in this situation, rushing like mad for no good reason, I consciously tell myself to slow down. I actually make my body move at a more relaxed and efficient pace. I breathe deeply and slowly and focus my attention on flowers, the sky, trees , anything that speaks to me of a more natural rhythm. It works and can be habit forming.

Do I still find myself rushing like mad for no reason? Of course, but much less frequently, and when I do I can count on this strategy to help me to return to sanity.

Never be so busy trying to get somewhere that you fail to see and appreciate where you've been. nnnn
