The one gimmick that will destroy your business is using false promises to build your business. This issue is the biggest issue of all. It is one of the reasons for the industry having such a bad reputation. Too many people have resorted to using deception and misleading people in order to sponsor them. Outside of the obvious ethical reasons, it is also wrong because of the affect if will have on your business. A wise person once quoted, “A man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still.” That speaks volumes, especially in a situation that involves business. You do not want to build your business on a faulty foundation. This is even more the case when you expect to see long term profits and have a massive organization. Building your business with deception only means that you are planning to have a short term business, and are trying to meet immediate needs. Tricking people to come to your meetings and in home presentations will only backfire. For one, inviting uninterested people to a presentation or overview is a waste of time. They will only oppose you once they realize you have manipulated them. Even if they do enroll, it won’t be because of their own doing and more than likely they will use the same unethical tactics to build their businesses. That type of activity does not need to be duplicated in your organization, and will eat it like a cancer. It has happened many times before, and it the cause of ruined organization throughout the industry. Only put your energy and focus into people who are interested, and even better, people who are proven. Do not let greed and peer pressure lead you to dishonesty. It will not last, and many relationships will be destroyed. Don’t burn bridges in you businesses, and live to build another day.
