One moment in time

Our lives are peppered with a number of events. These range from formal parties such as weddings and engagements to more serious ones like corporate events, graduation days as well as events surrounding the armed forces. For each of these events, photography has emerged as a necessity. It is the only way to capture these memories for a life time. For each of these events the kind of photography involved is different. The photographer is one who will have to understand the emotions that run through such events. At weddings it could be look of pride on the face of the father of the bride or the gamut of emotions that runs on the groom’s face when he sees his bride walk down the aisle. On graduation day, it is that one tear of pride that rolls down the cheek of a single mom who sees her daughter accept her certificate. Or even the regal look of each member of the armed forces, irrespective of whether they are in a jovial mood or a somber one. Event photography is about being able to make the right choices at the right time. This could be in terms of framing, shutter speeds, lighting etc. Good photography would entail the use of the continuous shooting mode at times. At other times it would require a mid or a wide shot. Certain personal events such as those of Christmas party or Hanukkah will require the use of focus photography. The photographer should be able to judge on which elements need to be brought into focus in a frame. Shooting in variable light conditions should also come naturally. This is essential since priceless moments don’t wait for you to adjust your camera. Event photography is also about how one conducts themselves. Being a photographer doesn’t allow one to behave or present themselves in a way that offends those at the event. Being dressed in accordance to the event is necessary as is respecting the norms that are followed. High society events require that you request before taking a picture and never spring up unexpectedly. Being familiar with the venue and the best spots available for photography within it are also the traits of good event photographer. Getting into the spirit of the event is what will help you get the most out of it in terms of photographs. Besides all of this, a professional approach towards customer relations is necessary. A customer should feel that he has received value for his money.
